  ON THE ROAD

The Polish automotive market is one of the fastest growing in Europe. From 2000, a surplus of more than 8 million cars appeared on Polish roads. At the moment, investments on road network are priorities of every government in Poland. These efforts are additionally supported by investments connected with a special programme, whose goal is to build the most crucial network of motorways before football’s European championships - Euro 2012. Despite this, the main roads in Poland are rather congested, while traffic jams in big cities are bothersome. That is why have we decided to mark out our routes far from main roads. Focusing on B or sometimes C roads category, our trips will let you admire the beauty of our country without interruption. Going for a trip around Poland with us, you will discover the real face of our country, unavailable to other forms of tourism (e.g. coach tours). We will do our best to spent most of the riding time far from main, congested roads, letting you travel without time pressure, spending your holiday in  absolute calm.

In the Polish road scenery, motorcycles appear in pretty high numbers, this is a new phenomenon, unknown a decade ago. On one hand you should be a bit more aware in the spring, after almost 6-months period of motorcycles absence on the roads. On the other hand a group of motorcycles is a very rare phenomenon and noticed from a long distance. Due to this fact, travelling in a group of motorcycles in Poland is estimated to be safe. No matter how safe riding a motorcycle in Poland could be, we expect from tour participants utter compliance with safety principles. Because of this, we have prepared the regulations below, to show how a tour participant should behave on the road, while riding with us. Purchasing a service at MOTO-TOUR.PL, each client accepts obeying rules presented below.

While travelling in a group of motorcycle, each participant must obey the following rules:

  • we ride in a double file,
  • the first travelling motorcycle we call "leader" and the last one "sheppard",
  • the distance between you and the motorcycle riding ahead equals 2 seconds,
  • everyone keeps an eye contact with the motorcycle riding just behind,
  • between filling tanks, we ride the replica hublot relojes distance appointed by the motorcycle with the smallest petrol tank,
  • leader and sheppard wear light reflecting vests.

The sheppard has an ambitious and responsible task in a group. To keep the tour price at a reasonable level, we do not hire second rider to act as a sheppard. We usually ask one of participants, with long riding experience, moving on a powerful motorcycle to be sheppard.

Nobody overtakes a leader and nobody stays behind a sheppard. Changing places within a group is possible but not suggested. The arrangement inside the group in the moment of set off – whatever.
If a motorcycle, which straggled from the group, with leader’s knowledge and acceptance, comes back to the group, all motorcycles changes their places in formation as to keep the double file order. The same reaction takes place when motorcyclists inside the group happen to changes their places.
Crossing an intersection or roundabout the group keeps its formation. Motorcycles reducing distances among them, which helps in uninterrupted continuation of the ride. This also increases perception of the group to other users of the road which makes them less eager to split the group. If there is a necessity to stop, the group still keeps its order.
Before overtaking, a motorcycle moves close to the road axis. Motorcycles which go to the outer side of the lane, signal the change of their position using an indicator.
While group is being overtaken by another vehicle, usually such process begins with signalising the possibility of overtaking by the sheppard. It is done by sheppard’s movement towards the road edge (if the sheppard currently rides on the outer side of the road, he/she turns the right indicator for a while). All motorcyclists riding on the inner side of the lane move right to the side of the road, arranging in a single file. Position changes within the group are also signalises by indicator.
If the group is split by giving priority or traffic lights, motorcycles which managed to pass, stop in a row at the side of the road. When circumstances allow this, the group could keep moving with significantly reduced speed, waiting for the rest of the group to catch up. Noticing the tail part of the group, motorcycles increase speed to make their joining is smooth.
If a motorcycle brakes down or gets a puncture, it slows down and stops at the side of the road. Motorcycles riding behind the broken down one, stop behind it in one row on the side of the road. The motorcyclist riding in front of the one that has broken down, notices the lack of the motorcycle behind and stops at the side of the road. This way the “signal” reaches the leader. Each motorcyclist in safe circumstances turns back, and stops at the end the same row of other motorcycles that had stopped before.
Parking. The leader stops at the end of the parking space, reverses the motorcycle and places a motorcycle aslant to the entrance of the parking area. The following motorcyclist repeats the movement after the leader, placing a motorcycle next to the previous one.
Warning of possible emergency braking. When the group leader sees situation on the road, that may cause the necessity of emergency braking, flash braking lights with high frequency (not as strong as to make a motorcycle slow down). The same warning is repeated by all motorcyclists in the group, to pass the signal backwards.
Blocker. If there is unanimity in the group to implement the blocker function, there could be a motorcycle acting to hold the traffic when crossing intersections or roundabouts. A blocker rides as a second in the group. When the group enters a road with right of way, a blocker stops in the middle of the lane for oncoming traffic, raises his/her hand and stops the oncoming vehicles, to make the group pass without splitting. After all motorcycles finish the manoeuvre, a blocker joins as the last one and gradually moves to the head of the group, taking his/her original place.

If anyone notices that his/her motorcycle is running out of petrol, which endangers in  undisturbed riding, the rider moves towards the motorcycle riding just ahead of him/her and points at the petrol tank. The motorcyclist who sees a signal from his/her colleague repeats the same action to the rider ahead of him/her. This way a “signal” reaches the leader.

  Leader’s signals made by hand:
1. Increase the speed.
2. Slow down.
3. Turn the indicator off.
4. I need to refill.

No matter the circumstances, our highest priority while riding with you is the safety of the group and each of the tour participants. The leader has the right to irrevocably and immediately exclude a participant from the group, if he/she is by:
  • gross ignorance of official road regulations,
  • riding under influence of alcohol or drugs,
  • undertaking daring, unnecessary and/or dangerous maneuvers on the road,
exposing other tour participants to accident or collision.

The Polish Tourism Organisation operates emergency telephone for foreign tourists in Poland. Despite this, an emergency telephone number 112, activating rescue services (ambulance, police, fire fighters), operates 24 hours a day.ceasuri replica
